The GaWC focuses upon research into the external relations of world cities. Xi’an also jumped 25 places to 125th in the ranking compared with 2018. Zhengzhou advanced 37 places to 116th from the 153rd place in 2018. The list showed the cities that rose greatly were in China’s central and western areas. Shenzhen advanced to the 46th place from the 55th rank in 2018.Ĭhengdu jumped 12 places from the 2018 ranking to the Beta+ level, and Tianjin, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Chongqing and Wuhan were ranked at Beta level. Shanghai and Beijing got Alpha Plus and were placed at No.5 and No.6, while Guangzhou and Shenzhen got Alpha Minus. Six of them were ranked in the Alpha level, or first-tier city level. Guangzhou, Shenzhen have entered a list of the world’s top 50 cities in a ranking by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC), a think tank at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, recently.Ī total of 34 mainland cities entered the list and 10 cities entered the top 100, ranking results showed.
